Thermometer Rating of Blacks (ISR): "There are many groups in America that try to get the government or the American people to see things more their way. We would like to get your feelings toward some of these groups. Blacks. Where would you put them on the thermometer? A sample size of fewer than 1,000 cases occurred in both 1998 and 2000, when 957 and 512 white respondents, respectively, answered this question. Data for 1998 were collected by both telephone and face-to-face interviews.
